New Jaguar XJ

2010 Jaguar XJ-C Coupe Designed

The 2010 Jaguar XJ-C coupe is currently being blueprinted and drawn by Ian Callum, director of all Jaguar's car design, and his team.
The last time Jaguar made a XJ-C coupe model was nearly 30 years ago, between 1975 through 1978. Then, in 1996, the first Jaguar XJ convertible was released, which makes us wonder if a 2010 Jaguar XJ convertible will arise anytime soon.Sky Motoring claims the new 2010 Jaguar XJ-C Coupe has not yet been approved, but we here at IAG feel that Jaguar's upper management will consider Callum's XJ-C rendering.

Jaguar S-type Combines Performance And Prestige

History of Jaguar
Jaguar made its name in the 1950s with a series of elegantly-styled sports cars and luxury saloons. In 1951 the company leased what would quickly become its principal plant from the Daimler Motor Company (not to be confused with Daimler-Benz), and in 1960 purchased Daimler from its parent company, the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA). From the late 1960s, Daimler was used as a brand name for Jaguar's most luxurious saloons.
Jaguar merged with the British Motor Corporation (BMC), the Austin-Morris combine, to form British Motor Holdings (BMH) in 1966. After merging with Leyland, which had already taken over Rover and Standard Triumph, the resultant company then became the British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC) in 1968. Financial difficulties and the publication of the Ryder Report led to effective nationalisation in 1975 and the company became British Leyland, Ltd. (later simply BL plc).
In the 1970s the Jaguar and Daimler marques formed part of BL's specialist car division or Jaguar Rover Triumph Ltd until a restructure in the early 1980s saw most of the BL volume car manufacturing side becoming the Austin Rover Group within which Jaguar was not included. In 1984, Jaguar was floated off as a separate company on the stock market — one of the Thatcher government's many privatisations

Jaguar Cars

Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before switching to passenger cars. The name was changed to Jaguar after World War II due to the unfavourable connotations of the SS initials. Jaguar cars are designed in an engineering centre at their headquarters in Coventry, England and are manufactured in one of three English Jaguar plants; Castle Bromwich in Birmingham, Halewood near Liverpool and Gaydon in Oxfordshire.
Following several subsequent changes of ownership since the 1960s, Jaguar was listed on the London Stock Exchange and became a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index, which ended when Ford acquired Jaguar in 1989. Jaguar also holds Royal Warrants from HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Charles.

Jaguar XJR-9

An evolution of the design for the Jaguar XJR-8, the Jaguar XJR-9 was yet again designed by Tony Southgate and built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), and featured a Jaguar 7.0-litre V12 based on the production 5.3-litre engine used in the Jaguar XJS road car. A variant of the Jaguar XJR-9, the Jaguar XJR-9LM, would be developed specifically for the 24 Hours of Le Mans where the requirement for high straight line speeds on the Mulsanne straight necessitated a low-drag aerodynamic package.
In the United States, the Castrol sponsored Jaguar XJR-9s debuted at the 24 Hours of Daytona, with the car successfully taking the overall win. However, throughout the rest of the IMSA Camel GTP season the Jaguar XJR-9 was unable to gain another win until the final race of the season, meaning the team had to settle for third in the constructor's championship. Over in the World Sportscar Championship, the Jaguar XJR-9, running Silk Cut sponsorship, met with more success. The Jaguar XJR-9 was able to take six victories, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, over the eleven race season and clinch another world championship. Jaguar's success at Le Mans marked the first time since 1980 that Porsche had not won Le Mans, and the first Le Mans victory for Jaguar since 1957.
